Some newbe FlyisFun problems

Postby soundwaves » 29 Apr 2016, 15:42

Have just downloaded FIF on trial basis to my Nexus %, works great, but as a PPL student, have some problems.
Can you plot a flight like sky demon, and have the track show on the map, to use this for preflight planning.

I would like to get used to the app by using the flight simulator. Seems you can only load a route using lat and long. Is there a way of touching the screen on your departure airport, then your waypoints and destination on the screen, so your planned track shows on the screen. Trying to get lat and longitude for where you flying needs a lot of digging around!

I cannot get the screen customising to work. It will accept my inputs, ( such as time to nav2) but it will not come up as a new box on any of the screens.

IF I can understand how it works and I then change from a trial to working version, I would want to use an android tablet as screen is bigger. Would FIF be able to link (by cable or bluetooth) to a FLYTEC Sensbox?

Finally, if the virtual radar facility is actioned, do you know how much mobile data would be used per hour of flight?

Basically, I am trying to work out on the ground, how to work the program before I take it on a flight, as I will very soon be doing my first solo qualifying cross country. Be very confidence inspiring to have FIF in the cockpit while doing this, but can't until I know how to work it!

Finally, seems fantastic program, I am am member of 3 clubs in Scotland, and am so impressed, I would like to run evening seminars on FIF and get more people aware of it. Do you have any powerp[oint material I could use (this would help me learn it as well!)

What a truly inspiring app though, the work done is amazing. :o

Hi Viking

Yes, am digesting the user guide as well as I can. It is more my lack of experience ( I am very soon going to be sitting my UK PPL navigation theory examination) than anything, so will be unlocking the trial app in any event, as it is such a fantastic piece of nav software. Was just hoping I could have come across some hints from experienced users that might offer a different learning viewpoint. But I will get there in the end!
