FLY is FUN

Regarding the Hardware,

I used the Google Nexus 7 until now and bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (T580) last week, as it has a bigger display and should run faster. Testing it, I noticed now that Samsung does not allow you to define external (SD-Card) memory as internal and it looks like running maps from an SD Card creates problems within Fly is Fun. As internal memory is limited to 16GB space would run out quickly with maps installed and a view other apps. Before I return the Tab A and look for a different solution, I wanted to ask in the forum

A) if there is a good, clean and easy solution to the mentioned problem
B) if anyone could recomend a above 9 inch display device that works smooth (in case of an A failure)

External memory access is always a (potential) source of problems:
- Failure of SD card
- Failure of connector
- Unexpected modification of Android code, that modify authorization process
- …
I faced the 3 above mentioned problems several times

That for, even if it’s possible using Fly Is Fun with data stored on SD cards, I always make sure that all Fly is Fun data are on the main internal storage memory.

Android requiring more and more power, in my opinion, min spec for Android handset bought today, especially for Fly Is Fun, should be:
- Android 7 (at least, with upgrade possibilities)
- 3 Go RAM (minimum)
- 32 Go internal storage (minimum)
- Good GPS sensor

They are plenty good handset with this spec

Currently, I’m using or tested the following handset
- Asus Zen Pad S8 – 4 Go RAM and 64 Go ROM, usually scratched on the instrument panel, but it’s GPS isn’t as fast as the one of Samsung (initial fix)
- Huawei M9 S8 – 4 Go RAM and 64 Go ROM very good but short battery life
- Hisense Rock C3 - 3 Go RAM and 32 Go ROM (water resistant)
- Galaxy Tab S3 – 4 Go RAM and 32 Go ROM very good excellent GPS sensor but heavy (in many case, stay at home due to its size and weight)

thx a lot, very helpful - I had the NEXUS 7 for quite some years and it did a good job - right now it´s running out of ressources & speed. Any other feedback on devices in use very wellcome - I think it´s of common interest. Right now I think I would go for the Asus Zen Pad S8 – 4 Go RAM and 64 Go ROM -

A good choice to, tht was very expansive initially 2 years ago but start to be affordable is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7

Excellent screen an GPS (much better than my ASUS) but USB port still with the "old format" that is slowly disappearing and replaced by USB-C

Tab S2 is a powerful tablet, but screen ratio is 4:3, good for many apps.
But FIF screen is not formatted yet for screen ratio 4:3. Some FIF NAV screen shows cutter or reduced or items out of view.

Could you give more detail.
I have reup tablets having 4:3 ratio:

and no problem
