Local WPT folder

Hi,
I have a problem with setting up a local folder of waypoints that I use. I have a list of about 150 waypoints in my Garmin 96 and would like to have them transferred. It does not appear to have the right format so I have made a small gfile of 4 wpt's as per pg. 27 of the manual and installed the file in a folder on a SD that I plugged into the Tablet. I do not seem to be able to get it into the database. Also I made several way points that have been included with the database but the manual says that they will be lost if the world database is updated. It may well be that I am unable to do it correctly due to lack of knowledge of working with Android . If there is some easy way to transfer the database from the Garmin 96 to Flyisfun I would like to know as I have currently 150 local waypoints and 45 routes that I would like to transfer. If that is not possible I will have to do it the long way but I still need to know how to create a seperate folder for the local stuff. Any help is appreciated.

Hi again Tonio,
I have now been able to create additional folders but I have not been able to put files into them. It probably because I do not know enough about working with an Android operating system. If I have a ---.wpt file on stick or miro SD is there aneasy way to transfer it to the prepared folder?
Thanks,
Col

Hi Col

I'm not familiar with Garmin 96
Most of WPT I'm importing are in KML format (I can see then on Google Earth)

It seem that some tools are allowing exporting Garmin data into KML format
ex
http://www.gpsbabel.org/
or
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/mis/gis/DNRGPS/DNRGPS.html
or
http://www.easygps.com/gps-receivers/Ga ... MAP-96.asp

http://www.garmin.com/en-GB/shop/downloads/basecamp

and or converting csv files to kml
ex
http://freegeographytools.com/2007/a-km ... -poi-files

once you get your WPT as KML file you can
- check/see WPT on Google Earth
and
- import them directly into FIF sending the file as email attachment and clicking on it

I hope it will solve your problem

It’s a workaround,
