Virtual Radar display criteria?

Postby flyyyer » 16 Feb 2014, 11:15

Hi Petr.
What is the VR logging and display criteria for fif?
If I open fif on the ground can I see active vr users displayed anywhere on the map if I move the map around? What is the criteria you use for transmitting my position..... logbook speed setting? I set my vr history to 12hrs and did pickup a plane from the morning ok. Many thanks Peter G.

Not so much users use it.
Next week will be new version, you will be able to see planes from planefinder (and FIF also).

Criteria for transmitting position - just check Enable virtual radar. Try it using two devices :-)

Come on all you users with smart phones, ( You could also link your phone to your tablet ) setup and turn on your Virtual radar. (Just need some flying weather then!)
It works great, Thanks Petr.

Friend on ground tracked me on a tablet connected to WiFi whilst I flew with my Galaxy note 3 today. Worked a treat. :-) Great potential.

We are in cooperate with planefinder.net. I hope in the near future FIF users will be visible there (if they switch-on vritual radar).

Dear all,

I have tested the virtual radar with two planes yesterday. In low altitudes it seems to work nicely, but I got the impression the distance between those two planes is quite close already, when you see the other one on the display. But that could be my subjective opinion.

The question which arises: what happens if you are in an area without cell phone coverage? The GSM modules of phones / tablets with FIF virtual radar will still recognize each other?

Happy landings,
Laotse

Without GSM is FIF blind.
